DOG KILLING

Published April 28, 2025

DOG KILLING: Dogs are domesticated animals, and have a role in the ecosystem as they act as predators and trophic regulators. The absurd policy of killing street dogs does not make any sense. If the government is really worried about public safety, it should vaccinate and tag the dogs. I can see an ecological disaster in the making if the current trend continues. The government might have to import dogs later to control the spread of mice and other such species.

ECO-ART LEADERSHIP: Art helps students build a relationship with the environment, which, in turn, can motivate them to take due action. Incorporating art into the curricula will raise critical thin-king among the students, draw attention to pressing challenges, and give marginalised groups a platform to contribute. The government should give importance to art-based environmental education to cultivate responsibility among the young.

ANOTHER KASHMORE: Gone are the days when I could spend time with friends till late in the night without any fear. Unfortunately, the situation in Pano Aqil has changed for the worse. Snatching has become the order of the day. Bikes are not safe outside homes. People are not safe even in their own homes. Daily protests are ignored by the relevant authorities. Will Pano Aqil be the next Kashmore or Ghotki?

FORCED CONVERSIONS: Forced conversions represent a severe violation of human rights and religious freedom. Underage girls, especially from Hindu and Christian communities, are forcibly abducted, converted and married to older men. Sadly, no action is taken against the perpetrators. This practice violates the Constitution which ensures religious freedom. The relevant authorities should end this injustice by formulating strict laws and launching effective awareness campaigns regarding religious tolerance.
