RAWALPINDI: Police busted a four-member gang of robbers who were allegedly engaged in depriving citizens by posing as Pakistan Customs officials and recovered a revolving light, handcuffs, fake registration plates, a wireless set and a vehicle snatched by them.

A police spokesman said on Thursday that weapons were also recovered from the accused.

The gang was intercepted after police found the gang members suspicious and asked them for identification.

The accused introduced themselves as customs officials, but they could not prove it during the investigation.

He said that the accused used to stop vehicles and rob people by posing as government officials.

A vehicle snatched from a citizen at gunpoint, fake number plates, handcuffs, a revolving light, a wireless set and weapons were also recovered from the suspects.

The arrested suspects are being shifted to jail for an identity parade, said the spokesman.

Important disclosures and more recoveries are expected during the investigation of the suspects, he added.
