SARGODHA: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested a man involved in money laundering and bank fraud worth millions of rupees.

The suspect, Farrukh Hussain, was the manager of a private bank and he was declared a proclaimed offender in 2024.

An FIA spokesperson said the suspect had reportedly defrauded 19 account holders of Rs12m.

FAKE LAWYER: The fake lawyer appearing in the local courts for the last few years was traced by the secretary of the District Bar Association after an investigation and he was handed him over to police.

The Cantt Police Station arrested Abdul Quddus Jami, the suspect, and launched an investigation.

Abdul Quddus Jami used to present himself as a lawyer, doctor and journalist in institutions and kept appearing in regular courts and had a clerk’s office.

According to DBA General Secretary Shehryar Fayyaz Cheema, fake lawyers put pressure on him from every source but as an elected representative, he would not allow the sanctity of genuine lawyers and the bar to be violated.

RAPED: A famous volleyball player raped a 19-year-old boy and fled.

According to sources, 19-year-old youth who was keen to watch the volleyball match at Chak 140-SB of Shah Nikdar was raped by the volleyball player. Shah Nikdar police station registered a case.

TRAINING: The Directorate of Academics, in collaboration with the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD), organised a two-day training workshop at the University of Sargodha as part of the ‘Each One. Teach One’ initiative.

The programme aims at enhancing Pakistan’s literacy rate by engaging the university students in the cause of adult education.

Students from the departments of pharmacy, software engineering, and information technology participated in the training. Following the workshop, each trained student is expected to teach at least one illiterate person in their community.

The workshop was attended by Dr Uzma Shehzadi, director Academics UoS, Ali Abid Naqvi, district officer Child Welfare Bureau, Sargodha, Deputy Director NCHD Sargodha Mahar Umar Daraz Jhawari, Asif Ali Tarar Assistant Director NCHD Sargodha, field officers from NCHD Sargodha and faculty members.

Dr Shehzadi, Asif Ali Tarar and Mahar Umar Daraz Jhawari spoke on the occasion.
