ISLAMABAD: Police have recovered the body of a man who had been kidnapped.

The deceased was identified as Hamza Khan, 29, a resident of Islamabad and Senate staff member.

The deceased went missing on March 15 and over his disappearance his elder brother Mohammad Waqar got a kidnapping case registered with Aabpara police station on March 18.

Later, in a supplementary statement, Mr Waqar stated that his brother Hamza Khan had visited the house of a retired police officer at Mansehra and the latter had also admitted that Khan had come to meet him.

He said on March 11 there was a scuffle between his brother and the retired police officer and his son in Chattha Bakhtawar.

The complainant suspected that the retired official and his son had abducted his brother, and asked the police to nominate them in the FIR.

In response, the investigators arrested the retired police official and later his brother-in-law as well.

During interrogation, the retired officer told police that Hamza had visited his house, but later left.

However, his brother-in-law told the police that Hamza had visited the house of the suspect in his native village in Mansehra on March 15 and was kept in illegal detention.

After one or two days, he was murdered with firearms and later the body buried in a wooded area near the house of the suspect, he said.

They took possession of Hamza’s mobile phones but did not switch them off.

Later, they brought the phones to Islamabad and abandoned them at a metro station in G-10.

Following the confession, a police team was sent to the village which recovered the body and brought it to Islamabad and shifted it to the hospital for autopsy.

When contacted, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Jawad Tariq confirmed the recovery of the body from the village.

About the reason behind the murder, the DIG said it was being investigated.
