ISLAMABAD: Two persons were killed and two others were injured during a robbery in the capital on Friday, police said.

A robber was also injured in the incident.

The victims were either siblings or cousins and residents of Niazi Town in Rawalpindi.

Condition of one the injured is stated to be critical.

Sources in the police said preliminary findings revealed that the incident took place in I-14/1 where four persons were making a video with their mobile phones when robbers appeared on the scene, pulled out their weapons and held them at gunpoint.

They snatched cash and valuables from them and were escaping when the group put up resistance.

The robbers opened fire at them, killing one on the spot and injuring three others. The injured persons, however, managed to overpower one of the robbers, while the others escaped.

Hearing the gunshots people from the nearby areas and passersby rushed to the spot. The police were informed while the body and injured were shifted to the hospital.

Later, in the night, another injured breathed his last.

The robber was handed over to the police for further action.
