ISLAMABAD: Though the capital police and administration had claimed that four persons were killed in the road accident on IJP Road on Friday, the FIR registered on Saturday put the number of deaths at five.
The case has been registered with Sabzi Mandi police station according to which five persons died on the spot.
The FIR said a police team while patrolling on IJP Road near Mandi Mor spotted a speeding dumper moving towards Faizabad and colliding with a number of vehicles. The dumper then fell on a rickshaw.
As a result, five people died on the spot and a number of others were injured. The deceased were identified as Khushal Khan, Naqash Qayyum, Adnan, an unidentified 40-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl. The dumper driver escaped. The incident took place due to negligence and carelessness of the dumper driver, the FIR said.
The police had claimed that eight persons sustained injuries and later four of them, including two women, died. On the other hand, the district administration said four persons, including a 15-year-old girl died in the accident.
The police had earlier also claimed that the dumper loaded with sand hit a footpath due to a break failure and overturned and fell on vehicles. However, the capital administration had claimed that according to a preliminary investigation the dumper met with the accident due to a tyre burst.
