BAHAWALPUR: Panic gripped the paediatrics ward of Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) when a fire broke out on Wednesday, causing frightened child patients and their attendants to rush out in fear.

According to eyewitnesses and officials from Rescue 1122, the fire erupted in the doctors’ room, where computers and scanners reportedly caught fire due to an electrical short circuit. The rescuers extinguished the fire, preventing a major disaster.

Dawn learned that 43 children, along with their attendants, were present in the ward at the time of the incident. Rescuers ensured their safety by relocating them to other hospital wards.
