MIRANSHAH: At a Jirga held here on the occasion of Mr I.I. Chundrigar’s visit, the tribal Maliks reiterated their loyalty to Pakistan and asked the Afghan Government to change its present “un-Islamic policy”. The NWFP Governor … was given a big ovation by tribal Pathans of North Waziristan. They showered flowers on his car, fired rifle shots in the air and shouted “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Islam Zindabad”.

Replying to an address of welcome presented by Malik Habibullah Khan Torikhel … the Governor said, “In your address you have rightly said that it was the great desire of the late Quaid-i-Azam to see that the germs of sectarianism should be eliminated from the body politic of Pakistan. Islam abhors sectarianism and teaches unity and brotherhood”.

Stating that Pakistan had been constantly taking up the cause of Muslim countries in the [UN] and trying to create cordial relations with them, the Governor said: “… The recent visit of … the Shahinshah of Iran showed Pakistan’s endeavour to maintain cordial and brotherly relations with Muslim countries of the world. …”
