KARACHI, April 28: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz was informed on Friday evening that problem of load shedding in Karachi would be over in two days.

Presiding over a meeting at the Governor’s House shortly after his arrival, the prime minister asked the federal minister for water and power Liaquat Ali Jatoi to help resolve the recurring problem of load shedding in the province.

The meeting, attended by Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, also reviewed law and order situation in the province.

The prime minister was briefed on short and long-term measures taken by the provincial government to improve law and order situation.

Meanwhile, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad said that no slackness be shown in completing the short and long term power projects as per programme.

Presiding over a meeting on Friday held to review matters concerning power supply in Karachi, the governor pointed out that people cannot be made to wait for long for availability of facilities, like electricity.

Present in the meeting were Federal Minister for Water and Power, Liaquat Ali Jatoi, Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman, Principal Secretary Mohammed Saleem Khan, CEO KESC, Frank Scherschming and other officials.

KESC CEO apprised the governor about the steps and plans for system improvement.

It was informed that Karachi-HUBCO Link would become operational from May 15. The governor directed that this must be ensured and effort be made to make it operational still earlier.

Dr Ibad said besides receiving additional 55mw power through this link, the distribution system too should be kept stable.—PPI
