KARACHI, April 28: Shamsul Hasan, Finance Secretary of the Islami Jamiat Talaba Karachi and eyewitness in the abduction and murder case of IJT activist Farhan Asif disappeared mysteriously from his home Thursday night, family members and the IJT said on Friday.

IJT worker and student of Jinnah College Karachi, Farhan Asif, was abducted in April last year on his way home. His body was found the next day with marks of torture. His colleagues had blamed the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and its student wing, the APMSO, for his abduction and murder.

Addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club, Nazim IJT Karachi Syed Abdur Rasheed and Manazirul Hasan, elder brother of Shamsul Hassan, said their colleague was missing from his residence since Thursday night and his whereabouts were still unknown despite all efforts.

“Shamsul Hasan was present at his residence till 1:30am on Thursday night. On Friday morning, he was not found in his bedroom although all his belongings including his shirt, wallet, cell-phone, motorcycle, slippers and keys were present there,” Syed Abdur Rasheed informed.

He said after a thorough search, his family lodged a complaint at the Pakistan Bazaar Orangi Town police station.—PPI
