LAHORE: The Pakistan People’s Party central Punjab President Raja Pervez Ashraf has said the party cannot move forward in politics without maintaining an active social media wing.

Chairing a meeting of the PPP’s Information Bureau at the Governor House here on Sunday, he said special attention will have to be paid to organise the party’s information wing to bring to fore its narrative in practical form.

Senior party leaders, including Nadeem Afzal Chan, Hassan Murtaza, Shahzad Saeed Cheema, Ahsan Rizvi, Sania Kamran, Ayesha Nawaz Chaudhry, Bushra Manzoor Maneka, Zeeshan Shami, Rao Babar Jamil, Naseem Sabir, Farrukh Baseer and Basharat Ali were present.

Mr Murtaza introduced the participants, while Mr Cheema shed light on the performance of the Bureau and its future strategy. A committee was formed to formulate the media strategy, particularly social media.

Mr Chan said the gap between the PPP leadership and the workers must be bridged. Lists of spokespersons, social media mobilisers and TV personalities should be prepared.

Sania Kamran said the party leaders should be given guidelines about the party’s narrative.

Meanwhile, the local chapter of the party alleged that city authorities were removing flexes and banners hoisted on Ferozepur Road and Jail Road by senior party leader Faisal Mir to welcome President Asif Ali Zardari in the provincial capital.
