LIBRARY ISSUES

LIBRARY ISSUES: The Quaid-i-Azam Library is home to students and intel-lectuals from across Balochistan, but these learners have been facing some glaring issues. The parking mafia outside the library is a menace. The so-called attendants extort money for parking close to the library. This they do with their aggressive behaviour with the car-owners. Besides, they often take cars out for a spin, which has already resulted in accidents. All nearby roads are in a decent condition, except the one leading to the library, making it difficult for the people to reach the library comfortably. The problems must be addressed urgently.

A COSTLY BREAKFAST: The recent National Prayer Breakfast hosted by United States President Donald Trump was not for free. Trump is a businessman, and a staunch believer in the saying, ‘there are no free lunches’. The Economic Times recently reported that the breakfast was priced at $10,000 per person. I did not attend it as I could not afford it, but many did just to catch the eye of the president.

LACK OF AMENITIES: There is only one major hospital in Loralai district, and it is on the verge of collapse. The hospital lacks basic facilities, such as ambulances, medicines and clean wards. The gover-nment must take immediate action to provide all the necessary facilities at the hospital, and improve its condition.

ESSENTIAL SERVICES: The Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in Karachi has established checkposts in the middle of phase VIII for security and traffic mana-gement reasons. These posts are of no use. They simply slow down traffic. Area residents, dismayed by these obstacles, are still compelled to pay security charges to the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC). The Sindh government charges service tax on almost everything, but fails to provide adequate services in return.
