RAWALPINDI: Deputy Commissioner Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema on Tuesday asked the Punjab Communication and Works Department to ensure quality of material used in the construction of Adiala Road flyover while completing work within the stipulated timeframe of June.
He passed these directives during his visit to the under-construction flyover to inspect the ongoing work.
Dr Cheema directed that work be completed within the stipulated timeframe and that Chaklala Cantonment Board be taken on board to ensure proper drainage system on the flyover.
He said work on connection roads under the flyover should be accelerated and debris around the project removed, adding that negligence in the beautification work of the project would not be tolerated.
The deputy commissioner said all piles would be tested as per the directions of the Punjab government, adding that a team of district administration had been formed to monitor construction work.
He said the track on the flyover should be smooth, drainage system should be ensured and height maintained as per the approved plan.
Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema said Rawalpindi Ring Roadwould be connected with the city and cantonment areas with AdialaRoadintersection, which would reduce traffic mess in the area.
During the briefing, it was informed that the total cost of the project was Rs2.113 billion and work on it would be completed by June. The total length of the flyoverwould be 1,915 feet and width 52 feet. The 22 feet service roads will also be constructed on both sides of the flyover.
The Communication and Works Department had transferred Rs264.314 million to Islamabad Electricity Supply Company (Iesco) and Rs30 million to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL).
