LAKKI MARWAT: A fire gutted a carpet warehouse in Bannu district, a Rescue 1122 official said on Saturday.

He said that the fire broke out in the warehouse located near Kurrum Bridge. He said that a team of firefighters along with fire trucks, tankers and an ambulance was dispatched to the area when the control room received an emergency call.

The official said that Rescue 1122 district emergency officer Bakhtullah Wazir also rushed to the site and supervised the fire extinguishing operation.

“The firefighters put out the blaze in a 40-minute operation,” the official said.

He said that the fire would have engulfed the nearby shops and business outlets had the rescue service personnel not responded quickly.

“Though the owner of the carpet warehouse suffered losses the firefighters averted a major destruction,” he added.
