RAWALPINDI: Divisional administration has set April 30 as deadline for completion of Safe City Project under which 2097 cameras will be installed on 359 pool sites on traffic junctions and public places.
Briefing Commissioner Aamir Khattak, an official of the Building Department Rawalpindi said 70pc work on the construction of building has been completed.
According to the details, 85 pc of the field work and 81pc of network connectivity have been completed.
The official said so far 1,650 cameras have been installed on 323 pool sites.
He said the control room would be set up on a total area of 63,000 square feet. The basement, ground floor and first floor of the building has already been completed, the official said. The finishing work is currently underway, with civil construction expected to be finalised within the next two months. Additionally, the installation of imported materials is projected to be completed soon.
The briefing also included updates on the ongoing electrical work within the building. Furthermore, arrangements have been made to facilitate limited operational capabilities for the SafeCityAuthority during this transitional phase.
Mr Khattak said additional funding will be allocated promptly to ensure the timely completion of this vital project.
He also visited the SafeCityAuthority’s Rawalpindi Data Centre, where he commended the efforts of the C&W team and urged them to expedite the project.
This initiative is a testament to the Punjab government’s dedication to enhancing public safety and modernising urban infrastructure, ultimately contributing to a safer and more efficient environment for the citizens of Rawalpindi.
He said the Safe City Project will be very beneficial for the citizens of Rawalpindi. This will bring peace and increase the sense of security among the citizens.
Through the Safe City Project, he said that digital intelligence -based crime control system will be utilised to maintain law and order in Rawalpindi city and also help run the traffic system in a better way.
He said the project should be completed within a stipulated period to provide a peaceful and safe environment to the citizens.
Later, commissioner presided over a meeting regarding the development schemes of Rawalpindi and directed deputy commissioners to scrutinise the schemes so that they can be completed on a priority basis in terms of their utility.
Commissioner Rawalpindi directed that all out efforts should be made for immediate release of funds in order to bring the project to its completion stages.
