SAHIWAL: A prayer leader was kidnapped allegedly by four armed men in village 136/9-L, Sahiwal tehsil, on Wednesday evening.
Reports said Muhammad Adnan, 40, is the prayer leader of a mosque located in Rehman Block near Multan Bypass National Highway and resides in a room of the mosque’s upper portion. An eyewitness said as Adnan came out of the mosque after Maghrib prayers, he was taken away by four armed men in a double cabin towards Lahore-Multan National Highway.
District Police Officer (DPO) Rana Tahir told Dawn the police were investigating from all angles and there was no clue to the prayer leader till the filing of this report.
Ghala Mandi police registered a case against the kidnappers on the complaint of prayer leader’s father Abdul Jabbar.
In Muslim Bin Aqeel Colony, three persons tried to kidnap a class-X student, Razi Husnain, but failed when he put up resistance. Fateh Sher Police registered a case against Shahzeb and Shahbaz.
Police investigation says the suspects wanted to have a friendship with Razi, but he denied their offer.
ARRESTED: Police arrested an outlaw while his two accomplices managed to escape during an encounter in village 11/L, Chichawatni tehsil, on Thursday.
Report said three dacoits were looting passersby after setting up a picket near village 38 Pull. On information, Gahziabad, Saddar and Chichawatni City police rushed to the spot. The dacoits opened fire on policemen which was retaliated.
After a shootout, the police arrested one of the dacoits, identified as Husnain Shah, in injured condition while his three accomplices, including Allah Ditta, managed to escape.
Police have registered a case on the complaint of Chichawatni Saddar SI Muddasir Ghaffar.
