PESHAWAR, April 21: NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has said that a committee comprising representatives of the Paramedical Association has been formed to ensure implementation of a new service structure for paramedical staff in the next budget.
Talking to a 90-member delegation of the Paramedical Association, led by its president Sirajuddin Barki, at the Frontier House on Thursday, the chief minister said previous governments had ignored the association’s demand.
Provincial Health Minister Inayatullah and MNA Maulana Shujaul Mulk also spoke.
He said the service structure would be implemented in the budget.
He expressed the hope that Balochistan and other provinces would also take steps for welfare of paramedics.
The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal had offered a lot of facilities to employees, the chief minister said.
He said a committee led by the chief secretary had been formed to solve problems of secretariat employees.
“The MMA government has approved promotions and incentives in education, health, police, wildlife and other sectors because this is the right of government employees,” he stated.
The chief minister urged doctors to start evening OPD in government hospitals in accordance with their commitment, as poor people could not pay the exorbitant fees at private clinics.
He alleged that some elements in paramedical staff damaged government machinery in hospitals.
PARAMEDICS DELEGATION: The status of paramedical profession has been enhanced after the approval of a proper service structure and youths will proudly join the profession, says NWFP Health Minister Inayatullah Khan.
He said this while talking to a delegation of the Frontier chapter of the Paramedics Association here on Friday. MPAs Muzaffar Said and Javed Khan Mohmand and district representatives of the association also attended the meeting.
The health minister urged the paramedics to respond positively to the government’s steps for their welfare and discharge their duties efficiently.
Siraj Burki, president of the NWFP Paramedical Association, appreciated the provincial government’s efforts for solving the paramedics’ problems and said that a proper service structure would increase the health workers’ efficiency.
