MIRPURKHAS: Sindh Minister for Culture Syed Zulfikar Ali Shah has ordered the contractor concerned to build a cemented small bridge at the Sangro Shakh of Jamrao Canal near the Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas road following a demand of his voters.
Earlier, a similar bridge was being constructed at the Sangro Shakh near the minister’s village of Syed Khadim Ali Shah, in the limit of taluka Shujaabad. The minister passed the order when a few days ago hundreds of villagers (his voters) during his recent visit to the under-construction bridge told him about their difficulties in going one side of the shakh to the other side after covering a long distance.
Sources said that when the minister, along with some political personalities and district administrative officers, was inspecting the ongoing lining work of Sangro Shakh, villagers from both sides of the shakh gathered. They told the minister that they were living on both sides of the shakh and most of them were relatives, but faced great hardships to cover long distance to go to each other’s villages in the absence of a bridge at the shakh.
They requested the minister to ensure construction of a small bridge at the shakh near their villages to facilitate their movement. They deplored that even for the burial of their deceased relatives, they had to cover long distance on foot if they lived on the side of the shakh falling on the other side of the graveyard.
The minister asked the contractor to build a small bridge near their villages.
