PEKING: China sees the Third World as the main force in combating colonialism, imperialism and hegemonism, supports political unity in Western Europe and believes that it will be possible to improve China’s relations with the United States, Premier Chou En-lai told the National People’s Congress last week in a government policy speech. … On the other hand, China does not see an end to the ideological conflict with the Soviet Union which it accuses of breaking the 1969 agreements to settling the border conflicts, according to Mr Chou. Mr Chou repeated China’s standpoint that the two Super Powers — Russia and the United States — are fighting for hegemony in the world and that this must eventually lead to a new world war.

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from Islamabad,] Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto has warmly felicitated Mr Chou En-lai on his re-election as the Prime Minister of China. … …Mr. Bhutto expressed his fervent hope that the traditionally close and friendly relations … between the two countries will continue to grow. … The [PM] said: “I have great pleasure in extending to Your Excellency our warm felicitations.”
