FAISALABAD, April 16: A bus driver was tortured to death allegedly by personnel of Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) at the toll plaza of Motorway-3 near Kamalpur here on Sunday.
Reports said driver Qaisar Mehmood exchanged hot words with FWO personnel during entry into the M-3 via Kamalpur interchange.
The FWO men beat him up with belts as a result of which he became unconscious. Some crew members of other buses also gathered on the spot but the FWO men did not allow any body to physically check the injured driver resulting in his on-the-spot death due to excessive bleeding.
Police have sent the body to Allied Hospital for autopsy. No case has so far been registered.
FERTILISER PRICES: Farmers Association Faisalabad has demanded that the federal government should immediately announce withdrawal of increase in the prices of fertilisers otherwise the dream of self-sufficiency in food cannot be materialised.
Speking to newsmen here on Sunday, he claimed that all the fertiliser companies had increased their prices during the last fortnight which had enhanced the cost for growers and tillers.
