DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The district police officer (DPO), Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada, on Saturday suspended the entire staff of a checkpost for negligence and ordered an inquiry into the matter.
He paid a visit to Khhutti checkpost and found the entire staff including their head absent from duty. He suspended all officials and ordered departmental inquiry against them.
He said that officials deployed at police stations and checkposts should not show carelessness or negligence in their responsibilities.
Meanwhile, a ceremony was held at the regional office of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to mark National Voters’ Day on Saturday.
The regional election commissioner, Saeed Ahmad Khan, said on the occasion that ECP was making special efforts to ensure participation of women, minorities, transgender persons and differently-abled persons to play an effective role in the electoral process.
He said that each eligible person must ensure registration of vote based on the address mentioned in his/her Computerised National Identity Card (CNICs) so that no one was deprived of their right to vote.
