KARACHI: A young man was shot dead and another wounded by robbers in Cattle Colony on Wednesday evening, police and rescue services said.

The Sukkan police said that armed muggers intercepted Mazhar Khaskheli, 22, and Yaqoob Ashraf, 20, near Niazi Kanta located on Street-12 in Cattle Colony.

They said that the duo put up resistance and the muggers fired at them and fled.

The police said that both persons suffered serious bullet wounds and were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors declared Yaqoob dead on arrival.

One of the robbers was arrested on the scene after area people managed to overpower him, the police said, adding that efforts were underway to arrest his absconding accomplice.
