KARACHI: “I am going to Lake Success in connection with the Kashmir issue,” Mr Mu­­sh­taq Ahmad Gurmani, Pakistan’s Amb­as­sador-at-Large, told the APP in Karachi today … [Nov 6] on the eve of his departure for a six-week tour of Europe and the Americas.

Asked if his visit to other world centres had anything to do with Kashmir, the Roving Ambassador said: “While I am in other countries, if they want to know anything about Kashmir and if they are interested in the problem, I shall try to explain our point of view to them.” Mr Gurmani continuing said: “I am going to strengthen the cause of peace.” … [He] will visit Egypt, Britain, France, Belgium, the [US], Argentina, Brazil, Cuba and Canada. — News agencies

[Meanwhile, as reported by the Times of India from Srinagar,] … Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, the Kashmir Premier, addressing a public meeting at Mattan … a place of pilgrimage for Hindus and the seat of learning for Hindus in ancient days, on Thursday [Nov 4] called upon the people to start a Sanskrit college there. This, he said, would revive the old Hindu culture which was an integral part of Kashmiri culture.
