KARACHI: Two suspected robbers were shot dead by an off-duty policeman in Gulbahar on Friday, officials said.

Central SSP Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqi said two suspects tried to loot Constable Babar Barkat, 45, in Firdous Colony near Sana Tower. The official, who was in plain clothes, put up resistance and the muggers shot him in the leg. Despite being wounded, he returned fire, killing both the suspects on the spot, the SSP added.

The killed suspects were identified as Mohammed Noor and Shahmir. They were habitual criminals as there were several FIRs registered against them at different police stations, the SSP said.
