BAJAUR: Deputy commissioner Shahid Ali Khan on Saturday announced that the families of the slain policeman and a polio worker, who were martyred in an attack on a polio team in Salarzai tehsil of Bajaur district on Wednesday, would get proper financial package.

The deputy commissioner made the announcement while talking to the family members of the slain police official, Luqman Khan, and polio worker, Abu Hurera during his visit to their houses in Haji Lawang area of Khar tehsil and Tali village of Salarzai, according to a statement.

Mr Ali, who was accompanied by district police officer Waqas Rafique and assistant commissioner, Khar, Sadiq Ali, expressed sympathies with the bereaved families and offered Fateha for the departed souls.

He assured the family members of both the deceased that they would get a proper financial support under the provincial government’s Shuhada Package. He said that additional financial help would also be provided to them.

Meanwhile, the authorities on Saturday resumed work on a road in Khar tehsil of Bajaur district on Saturday several months after it was suspended.

According to a statement issued from the office of the deputy commissioner, on completion the four kilometre-long Shenki-Alizai Road would facilitate the residents of a number of villages in the remote region.

On this occasion, officials of the highway department directed the contractor to ensure completion of the project in the stipulated time.
