LAHORE: The Punjab Chief Minister, Mr. Mohammad Haneef Ramay, has presented the Rabwah Tribunal report to Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. This was stated by the Chief Minister while talking to newsmen at Lahore airport on his return from Rawalpindi. ... Mr Ramay said along with the Rabwah Tribunal report he also submitted to the Prime Minister his own recommendation concerning the matter. ... He said the recommendations of the Tribunal would be implemented by the Provincial Government in letter and spirit.
[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies from Islamabad,] Federal Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Hafeez Pirzada said in the Senate today [Aug 23] that the main worry at the Tarbela dam project ... was to save the main structure. Consultants were working on the job and “we cannot do anything which interferes with their judgement”, he told the House. ... Mr. Pirzada said that the main structure ... was behaving absolutely normally. ... The Minister, who described the situation at Tarbela as a “national emergency”, said that the consultants had decided to empty the reservoir. The choice was between saving the water and saving the Dam, he added.
