SARGODHA: “We cannot be a party to the prolongations of the sufferings and misery of our brethren in the State of Jammu and Kashmir and an early solution … must be found. We would prefer a solution of this dispute by peaceful means,” said Mr M.A. Gurmani, Pakistan’s Minister for Kashmir’s affairs, today [Aug 6].
On his attention being drawn to yesterday’s Press Conference of Mr Jawaharlal Nehru, in which the Indian Prime Minister is reported to have emphasised the necessity of fixing a truce line in Kashmir, Mr Gurmani said: “As I explained at the Press Conference in Lahore, the resolutions of the UNCIP do not contemplate any truce line nor is such a line at all nec-essary. The only stipulation made in the UNCIP resolutions … is in regard to the demarcation of a cease-fire line and this has been fixed by an agreement recently. — News agencies
