RAWALPINDI: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Rawalpindi chapter on Friday staged a protest against the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh.

The demonstration, staged at Kamran Market Chowk in Saddar, was led by JUI-F Punjab Emir Dr Attiqur Rahman, Dr Ziaur Rahman, Ziaullah Khan and others. It saw significant participation following Friday prayers.

The demonstrators, carrying placards and chanting slogans against Israel, demanded the government to take a bold step on the the Palestine issue.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Attiqur Rahman said the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh had exposed the hypocrisy of the international community. “Human rights leaders are not seeing Israel’s ongoing oppression on Palestinians,” he added.

He said Palestinians’ lives had been made difficult by Israeli forces but the international community had turned a blind eye to it. He said the Zionist state had been committing massacres for nine months and more than 40,000 Palestinians, including women and children, were martyred.

“We condemn the Israeli occupation in Palestine. With the martyrdom of Ismail Haniyeh, the movement of Palestine will advance further,” he said, adding that the JUI-F strongly condemns the killing of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. He said people should stand up and raise their voice against Jewish atrocities on the Palestinians.

A similar protest demonstration was held by the party outside the National Press Club in Islamabad.
