LAKKI MARWAT: The Ghaznikhel tehsil council of Lakki Marwat district on Wednesday approved the annual budget with total outlay of over Rs295 million for the fiscal year 2024-25.

The council met at the municipal offices in Ghaznikhel town for the budget session. Tehsil municipal officer Attaullah Khan, tehsil officer finance Altaf Khan, members of the council and officials of the municipal administration and line departments were in attendance.

Tehsil council chairman Zeeshan Mohammad Khan highlighted the key points of the budget, saying that Rs161 million had been allocated for development expenditure.

He said that Rs134 million would go for non-development expenditure. He said that the municipal body would generate over Rs90 million from its own sources, while it would get Rs5.57 million from the provincial government.

The tehsil chairman told the house that Rs45 million would be spent on uplift schemes in the social sector and Rs59 million had been allocated for promotion of sports, soil conservation, sanitation, provision of municipal services and infrastructure development.

Shedding light on his priorities, he promised that with support of members of the council and officials of line departments, he would make the Ghaznikhel tehsil a model one in the province.

He asked the provincial government to realise the importance of local government in provision of basic amenities of life to the citizens and bringing development at the grassroots level.

Mr Zeeshan said that he was also in contact with the federal government authorities for construction of small dams in the area to boost agriculture and its component sectors.
