LAHORE: The Pakistan People’s Party Lahore chapter leader Faisal Mir has demanded the party’s central leadership to withdraw its support for the PML-N’s federal and Punjab governments for their unfair treatment of the PPP.
Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday, Mir regretted that the Maryam Nawaz government did not allow the PPP to celebrate President Asif Ali Zardari’s birthday at the Minar-e-Pakistan or Azadi Chowk despite applications submitted for the purpose.
He said the Punjab chief minister did not receive President Zardari at the airport during the latter’s recent visit to Lahore, which showed that Ms Nawaz had least regard for the PPP and its leadership.
Demanding the senior PPP leadership to withdraw support for the PML-N government, he vowed to organise President Zardari’s birthday celebrations as per the plan despite the risk of being arrested for violating Section 144.
He also urged the PPP’s diehard workers to reach the venue on Thursday (today) night to watch a splendid fireworks show to be held there.
