LOWER DIR: Three people were killed and four others injured when a container truck went out of the driver’s control while negotiating a sharp turn due to brake failure in Shago Kas area here on Monday.

Police and rescuers said the truck first hit a motorcycle and then three cars. As a result, two persons, identified as Jan Wali, 54, of Bajaur, and Nazir of Kotkay Khazana here were killed on the spot, while one Akbar, 25, of Hangu succumbed to injuries while being shifted to a Peshawar hospital.

Four others, including Zahidullah of Hangu, Ali Akbar and Amir of Faisalabad and Hasnain of Kotkay Khazana were injured.

Rescue 1122 emergency and medical teams along with the volunteers of Al-Khidmat Foundation reached the spot and retrieved the bodies and the injured and shifted them to the District Headquarters Hospital, Timergara. The police registered a case and started investigations.

The accident caused a massive traffic jam on the road for hours. Later, traffic in-charge Shad Mohammad along with his staff reached the site and cleared the road for traffic.
