BAJAUR: Two brothers were killed by a relative over a money dispute in Yousafabd area of Bajaur tribal district here on Saturday.

Khar police station officials identified the deceased as Aimal Khan, 35, and his brother, Umair Khan, 30, residents of Samarbagh area of the neighbouring Lower Dir district.

The accused, identified as Mohammad Khan, escaped from the area after the double murder.

Israr Khan, a spokesman of the Bajaur police, told Dawn that Ajmal Khan, the elder brother of the deceased, reported to the Khar police station that his brothers were present in their home in Yousafabad area, when his brother-in-law, Mohammad Khan, opened indiscriminate fire on them after exchanging harsh words with them over a money dispute.

As a result, he said Umair, who was a software engineer running a mobile repair outlet in Pashat Bazaar of Salarzai tehsil, died on the spot, while Aimal died on way to hospital.

The police spokesman said that Ajmal told the police that Mohammad Khan, who was his brother-in-law, had given some money to his brother, Umair for partnership in a business a few weeks ago, which he said led the accused to kill his brothers.

The police registered an FIR against the alleged killer and began efforts to arrest him.
