PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur has directed to establish a ‘Quran Mahal’ in the provincial capital in order to preserve the old copies/pages of the holy book.
The chief minister directed the Peshawar Development Authority to provide a suitable plot for this purpose.
He said that the proposed Quran Mahal should be a masterpiece of Islamic architecture and the ‘shaheed’ copies/pages of the Holy Quran from across the province would be preserved there.
Mr Gandapur issued these directives while chairing a meeting of the Auqaf department at the Chief Minister’s House, according to a statement issued here on Friday.
The meeting was attended by minister for Auqaf Adnan Qadri, principal secretary to the chief minister, Amjad Ali Khan, secretary Auqaf and other relevant officials.
Mr Gandapur also announced to hold Rehmatul-lil-Alameen conferences at the provincial, divisional and district headquarters levels throughout the province this year, and directed the quarters concerned to make arrangements for the purpose.
He announced that Rs5 million would be provided for holding such conferences at the provincial level, Rs2 million for divisional level, and Rs1 million for the district headquarters level.
Mr Gandapur also announced that Ulema-o-Mashaikh Conference would also be held in the province.
The chief minister directed the authorities concerned to identify suitable land for a graveyard to meet the requirements of the provincial capital.
The meeting also decided the establishment of assets management unit and carrying out the geographic information system mapping of the Auqaf properties across the province.
The participants also decided to hire a reputed law firm for better follow-up of the cases pending in various courts related to the Waqf properties of the Auqaf department.
