THE claim that Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb has filed a petition against the head of the an intelligence agency is untrue.

On March 25, six IHC judges — out of a total strength of eight — wrote a startling letter to the Supreme Judicial Council members, regarding attempts to pressure judges through abduction and torture of their relatives as well as secret surveillance inside their homes.

In a tweet on July 3, PTI MPA Fauzia Siddiqui had claimed that Justice Aurangzeb filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the chief of the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), alleging that intelligence agencies had threatened the families of the judges.

The post was viewed by over 100,000 social media users, and retweeted by several PTI supporters.

While the MPA did not provide any evidence for her claim, the high court has categorically refuted it.

Responding to claims that had been circulating on X and other social media platforms, an IHC press release said: “It is clarified that the contents of the said tweet/posts are not true and the same are baseless”.
