LOWER DIR: Two children drowned in the Panjkora River, one near the District Jail Timergara and the other in Wari area here on Friday, residents and Rescue 1122 officials said.

They said both of the deceased were taking bath along with other children when they drowned.

Rescue 1122 divers, volunteers of Al-Khidmat Foundation and civil defence succeeded to fish out the body of one child, identified as Mahmoodul Hassan, 15 from near the jail.

The body was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Timergara.

Search operation for the second child was in progress.

TRAINING: Speakers at a function held here on Friday asked youth to get professional and technical skills along with their formal education to get better jobs.

The youth affairs’ department arranged the function on the completion of a month-long CCTV camera installation short course here. A total of 70 youth completed the course.

The youth were awarded certificates on the occasion.

The speakers, including additional deputy commissioner Bashir Khan, district youth officer Malik Tariq Shahzad and others, highlighted the importance of knowledge of science and technology.

They said skills’ development and vocational training enabled youth to get lucrative jobs in diverse fields both in and outside the country.

Talking to reporters on the occasion, some participants termed the short course useful for them. They said they had learnt the installation of CCTV cameras. They demanded of the district administration and its youth affairs’ department to arrange more such workshops for them.

MEETING: SP investigation Rashid Khan chaired a meeting of prosecution staff and police investigation officers to discuss the cases under investigation at Timergara Police Lines here on Friday.

SP Rashid Khan said the role of the prosecution branch was essential in timely prosecution of cases under investigation. He said the prosecutors and investigation officers should remove the flaws in the investigation matters.

The SP investigation assured to consider the suggestions given by the prosecutors for further improvement in the investigation matters.
