Tauqir helps Wolves beat Rams

KARACHI, March 21: Medium-pacer Tauqir Hussain claimed five wickets to help Faisalabad Wolves inflict a convincing seven-wicket defeat on Rawalpindi Rams in the National One-day Regional Gold League cricket championship tie at the NBP Sports Complex on Tuesday. Tauqir finished with five for 35 as the Rams struggled to 219 for nine after being asked to bat first by Wolves’ skipper Misbahul Haq.

Only captain Naveed Qureshi (83 off 105 balls, six fours and two sixes) and all-rounder Yasir Arafat (an unbeaten 63 off 87 balls, three fours) managed to make significant contributions.

Mohammad Hafeez (78 off 87 balls, five fours and one six) and Abdul Mannan (91 off 140 balls, six fours and one six) then set up Wolves’ sixth win on the trot with an opening stand of 152.
