FILMING EXAM PAPER: I came across a video on Facebook in which a student was filming his board exam paper page by page. I wonder how the exam hall would look like when students are filming their final papers this daringly. It should be noted that mobile phones are strictly prohibited inside examination halls, and it is clearly mentioned on every paper as well as the students’ admit cards. The sole responsibility lies on the invigilation staff, especially the superintendents, to make sure that students do not take their phones inside the examination hall.

MILK PRICES: A substantial decline was witnessed in inflation in May, clocking at 11.8 per cent, the lowest in the past 30 months from the staggering high of 38pc. Then, what is the logic behind increasing the milk prices in Karachi by 10pc to Rs220 per litre? The media has reported that this price hike is the result of an agreement between the wholesalers and the city commissioner. It is a sorry state of affairs. The price of milk in Karachi should be decreased as it is unjustified.

PUBLIC TOILETS: Due to the lack of interest shown by the provincial government and the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), the mega city of Karachi lacks public toilets. People, especially women and the disabiled, face a lot of difficulties while they are out of their homes. The city is in an urgent need for hundreds of public toilets that should provide clean, safe, accessible, hygienic and convenient facilities to the people with adequate privacy and peace of mind.

UNIVERSITY GRADUATES: Our universities seemingly produce graduates without enough skills and knowledge. As a result, our graduates struggle to join the job market. University teachers have to play their pivotal role in enabling their students to meet the needs and requirements of the job market.
