OKARA, March 20: The paramedical staff of the DHQ Hospital went on strike against the city union council nazim who allegedly beat up a dispenser two days ago when he was going home after duty.
It is learnt that Murtaza and his accomplices intercepted emergency ward dispenser Ihsan to check him for stolen medicines but found nothing. They had a heated argument when Ihsan protested against them.
Later, Murtaza called city nazim Muhammad Afzal Paiji who beat him up with the help of his accomplices. When Ihsan tried to get medico-legal certificate to register a case against them. But the nazim resisted his bid to get certificate.
The paramedical staff went on strike and later doctors joined them. City DSP Nazir Shah reached there and assured them that a case would be registered against the accused.
The hospital staff called of strike after five hours.
Meanwhile, nazim Afzal reached the Okara Press Club and denied the allegation.
ROBBERY: Two gunmen intercepted College of Education principal Jamil Akthar Javed when he was on way home after duty by a rickshaw on Stadium Road and deprived him of Rs5,500 in cash and a cell phone.
