KARACHI: A young man was shot dead by armed robbers in Baldia Town on Friday afternoon, police said.

The Madina Colony police said that Mohammed Sarwar, 22, worked with a factory in the area. He, along with his brother, was sitting outside the factory when armed pillion riders emerged there.

The police said that his brother ran but the muggers held Sarwar at gunpoint and demanded his cell phone. As he put up resistance, the robbers opened fire on him, snatched his phone and rode away, they added.

He suffered a single bullet wound in the head and died on the spot.

The body was shifted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.

Just a day ago, armed robbers shot dead a 50-year-old man and wounded his young son over resistance near Coast Guard Chowrangi in the Korangi area.

Meanwhile, a youth was found murdered in Surjani Town on Friday, police said.

Area SHO Asadullah Agha said that 22-year-old Rehan Imran was alone at his home as his family had gone to attend a wedding ceremony in Korangi.

He said the family members stayed in Korangi for two-three days and did not even make telephone contact with the youth. When they returned, they found him lying dead inside the room while the main door of the house was open.

It appeared that he was killed around two to three days ago.
