KARACHI: A man was shot dead while his son was wounded by suspected robbers during a robbery in Korangi late on Wednesday night, according to police.
They added that Zafar Iqbal, 50, was gunned down while his son, Wahab, 20, was injured by robbers near Coast Guard Chowrangi.
The police said armed robbers entered the ‘gas cylinder shop’ with the intention of committing robbery. The young Wahab snatched a pistol from the robbers and started firing at them. The robbers also fired, resulting in bullet injuries to both father and son. They were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where the father was pronounced dead.
Zaman Town police SHO Malik Ashraf Awan said that both suspects were also injured in the firing by the wounded son. They were later arrested by the police, added the officer.
Youth shot dead in Landhi
A young man was shot dead in Landhi area on Thursday evening, according to police.
Quaidabad police SHO Zakirullah said Shabbir Shah alias Mama, 32, was passing through a street near Rehmania Masjid in Muzaffarabad Colony when unidentified suspects shot and killed him.
The officer said there were three criminal cases registered against the killed person, including one pertaining to a murder, at the Quaidabad police station. He was also involved in the narcotics business while his brother-in-law was a notorious drug peddler in his native town of Swat.
