SAVING PEACOCKS: The peacock is a symbol of beauty in Tharparkar. These magnificent birds add to the region’s natural charm. However, under the influence of the climate change phenomenon, a viral disease has killed hundreds of peacocks. Unfortunately, the relevant department has not taken any measure to prevent these deaths. An immediate action is needed from higher authorities to save the birds and the natural beauty of Tharparkar. The authorities must protect the remaining peacocks against any further harm.

FERTILITY CENTRE: Even the so-called well-equipped fertility centres in Islamabad are nothing more than bogus. We fell for one and paid a rather heavy price in every sense of the word. The administration forced us to complete the payment, which we did within about a week. The process took four months and failed completely. We were charged a hefty amount of over Rs1 million. What they told us in the beginning, and what actually happened had no correlation. I have launched a complaint at the relevant forum. People would do well to beware of such money-minting centres not just in Islamabad, but across the country.

POSTAL SERVICE: I sent an amount of Rs4,500 through money order using Pakistan Post from its General Post Office (GPO) at Nipa in Gulshan-i-Iqbal to my daughter in Federal B Area Block 15 (Tracking Number: MOS17625980) on May 6. On June 3, I went to the GPO to inquire about the status of the money order only to find the staff, especially the duty officer, to be extremely uncooperative. Upon repeated requests, I was told that I first had to submit a formal application in this regard. After a round of arguments regarding the necessity of the application, a junior staff entered my tracking number on the website, but that was not of much help. The online tracking system of Pakistan Post, in my experience, was as pathetic as its staff.
