LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched a probe into the alleged distribution of ‘speed money’ (bribe) among some officers of the Federal Board of Revenue.

According to the FIA, there has been a quarrel among some FBR officers over the distribution of ‘speed money’ and during the scuffle gunshots were also fired.

A three-member Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has been constituted led by FIA anti-corruption circle (Lahore) Deputy Director Mian Muhammad Sabir to probe the matter.

The FIA has also written to the additional commissioner IR, Large Taxpayers Office (LTO) Lahore, seeking record of the refund policy, details of the large taxpayer companies of all zones of the LTO Lahore in which refund has been issued in the last five years, reports of inspectors for refund to the large taxpayer companies, detail of amount refunded to DWP Engineering Industries Pvt Ltd in last five years and etc.
