MULTAN, March 18: Various human right bodies and political organisations staged a demonstration here on Saturday on the completion of three years of American invasion of Iraq. The protesters stressed that peace should be achieved through dialogue rather than force. They marched from Nawan Shehr Chowk to the Multan Press Club.

Speakers said on the occasion that policies of the Bush administration had made the world unsafe. “Situation identical to that of previous World Wars has been gripping the planet owing to Washington’s so-called war on terror,” they added.

They said according to UN charter March 18 was observed every year as the anti-war day but irony was that America imposed war on Iraq three years ago the same day.

The organisations that took part in the protest were National Workers Party, Communist Mazdoor Kissan Party, Tarraqi Pasand Organisation, Progressive Youth Front, Caritas Pakistan, Justice and Peace Commission and Multan Peace Network.
