KARACHI, March 18: Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that maintenance of law and order is the foremost responsibility of his government, which is taking full advantage of available resources.

Speaking as chief guest at the 19th Passing-out Parade of Elite Force at Police Training Centre, Razaqabad, on Saturday, he said that training of police commandos was helping in cases related to hijacking, kidnapping for ransom and bomb blasts.

He said: “Law and order is satisfactory in Sindh, still we have to keep a strict vigil on our surroundings, because protection of the life and property of people is the government’s responsibility.”

The chief minister said that he had approved training allowance, ration allowance and other incentives for jawans while funds were also sanctioned for other requirements of the centre like construction of boundary wall, conference room and commandos response hall, mosque and repair of firing range.

He acknowledged that salaries of police jawans must be equal to those of Punjab Police.

Arbab Rahim said that confidence of people in police had been restored. He asked the passing-out commandos to perform their duties with a sense of responsibility.

He noted with delight that despite limited resources, police as well as officers and jawans of other organizations were being benefited from the training facilities at Razaqabad Centre. He said that the IGP and other officers concerned, particularly administrators of the centre and teachers, deserved felicitations for this.

Later, the chief minister inspected the parade. Sindh IGP Jehangir Mirza, DIG Training and Inspection Mohammed Yamin Khan, Principal ATTC Razaqabad Col Abdul Wahid were also present on the occasion. —APP
