SIALKOT, Oct 16: The peon of a private school sustained serious injuries and the building damaged when two bombs planted in the school wagon exploded early on Tuesday morning in Phookaliyan village of Bajwat sector, near the Sialkot Working Boundary.
According to the official sources, unidentified terrorists had planted two high intensity Indian-made time bombs, weighing three kilograms each, in the wagon of Takbeer Model School late on Monday night. One of the bombs went off at 6:30am, while the second bomb exploded five minutes later injuring peon Abdul Aziz, 38. The school building and the boundary wall also damaged in the blast. The school wagon was completely destroyed.
The injured man was admitted to the Sialkot CMH where his condition was described as critical.
Sources said driver Akram Bhatti had parked the wagon (MH-4344) at parking lot in the school late in the night. It is expected that after his departure, the terrorists had planted the bombs in it.
Law enforcement agencies have taken the driver into custody for interrogation.
Meanwhile, secret agencies searched border villages in Bajwat sector for more devices.
ANNIVERSARY: The 50th death anniversary of Shaheed-i-Millat Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan was observed in Sialkot and Narowal districts on Tuesday.
Quran khwani was held and special prayers were offered for the late Nawabzada in big mosques of the city.
Speakers at various seminars highlighted Nawabzada’s struggle for Pakistan Movement and paid rich tributes to him.
