Lakki UC by-poll held

LAKKI MARWAT, March 12: lawyer Ismatullah Khan, won the by-election held here on Saturday for the post of nazim, Gandi Khankhel union council. According to unofficial result received on Sunday, Mr Ismatullah secured 1,019 votes while his rival Muhammad Riaz backed by the Watan Dost group, which is affiliated with the Awami National Party, bagged 345 votes. It was a one-to-one contest after Anwar Hayat Khan withdrew his papers.

WALK: The Schools and Literacy Department (SLD) in collaboration with the Anti-Narcotics Force organised a walk on Sunday as part of a campaign to create awareness about hazards and harmful effects of drugs.

A large of number of scouts from various schools and teachers participated in the walk led by District Nazim Humayun Saifullah Khan and SLD Executive District Officer Attaullah Khan Meenakhel.

The participants carried banners and placards inscribed with anti-narcotics slogans.

A debate competition was held in Government Centennial Model High School for Boys to highlight the effects of drugs.
