Fayyaz century sinks Zebras

KARACHI, March 11: A fine unbeaten century by opener Mohammad Fayyaz guided Peshawar Panthers to a five-wicket win over Karachi Zebras in the National One-day Regional Gold League tie on Saturday.

Fayyaz struck 117 off 126 deliveries as the Panthers achieved victory with three balls to spare after scoring 290 for five at the NBP Sports Complex.

Fayyaz, who slammed 12 boundaries, added 90 for the opening stand with Yasir Hameed (36) and another 90 with Riffatullah Mohmand (51) for the second wicket before Akhtar Sarfraz ended the match with a six.

The Zebras had earlier made 284 for five after Arshad Khan won the toss for the Panthers.

Naumanullah (81 off 95 balls, 10 fours and two sixes), skipper Hasan Raza (70 off 65 balls, three fours and three sixes) and Khurram Manzoor (50 off 73 balls, four fours and two sixes) were the main scorers.
