MANSEHRA, Oct 16: District Nazim, Mansehra, Azam Khan Swati, has urged upon the government to pay 25 per cent of the income of the Tarbela Dam to Mansehra district as royalty because over 60 per cent of the total land under the dam is of Mansehra district.
He was speaking at the inaugural session of district council Mansehra, which was held under the chairmanship of its conveyor Shazada Gushtasif Khan here on Tuesday.
He said he also backs same demand which has already been made by district government of Haripur.
He reiterated that he would serve the masses without discrimination and all available resources would be utilized for the development of the district and for its people.
He said that "our district is rich in natural resources and it is the responsibility of the elected representatives to work for the uplift of masses by utilizing these resources."
He said that people of the district are facing a number of problems like water scarcity, electricity, Sui gas, health facilities, education and sanitation.
He said these problems will be solved on priority bases. He took a strong exception to the reports that a number of teachers were getting salary without discharging their duties in the schools and directed the executive district education officer (EDEO) to file a report in this regard as early as possible.
He also directed executive district health officer, Juma Khan, to make sure the provision of all basic health facilities at basic health units and child and mothercare centres.
He said that law and order is first priority of the government and no negligence would be accepted.
He announced that he will pay from his pocket Rs 100 extra to every policemen every month for the good performance.
