KARACHI, March 7: The German Consul General Ms. Verena Grafin Von Roedern, has said that small and medium enterprizes(SMEs) play a pivotal role in strengthening the economy of any country.

“Pakistan is a growing economy where lot of opportunities exist for investment,” she said while speaking at a reception organized by Small and Medium Enterprizes Alliance (SAMEA) here on Tuesday.

She observed that the purchasing power of people in Pakistan has increased which can be judged from the growing demand for automobiles, air-conditioners, refrigerators and other home appliances.

However, Ms Verena said there was a need to bring improvement in the infrastructure and legal system and carryout reforms in bureaucracy as well as in Export Promotion Bureau for attracting investment and promoting the SME sector.—APP
