KARACHI, March 4: Continuing from where she had left, unseeded Anoosha Aslam added a feather to her cap when she captured the girls U-17 title with a stunning victory over second seed Sara Mansoor in the final of the Greener Pakistan National Hard Court tennis at Karachi Gymkhana on Saturday.

Anoosha played with vigour to beat her opponent 6-4, 6-2 in the title battle lasting about an hour.

The first set was fought aggressively between the two players. After breaking opponent’s serve at 4-4 Anoosha went on to win the opener 6-4.

Anoosha walked away with the second set more conveniently winning it 6-2 to grab the title.

“Despite playing three and a half hour battle against top seed Sarah Mahboob in the semifinal Friday, I was physically fit and faced no difficulty in disposing off my opponent,” a beaming Anoosha said after her win.

She is pitted against Sarah Mahboob again in the women’s singles final on Sunday.

Brothers Aqeel Khan-Jalil Khan annexed the men’s doubles title outplaying Inam Gul-Asim Shafik 6-3, 6-0.

The boys U-13 singles title went to top seed S. Zuhair Raza who got the better of second seed Adil Kohari 7-5, 6-0 in the final.

Defending champion and top seed Aqeel and second seed Asim Shafik cruised into men’s singles final after registering victories in contrasting style.

While Aqeel handed a straight 6-1, 6-4 defeat to Jalil Khan, Asim was extended to full length by Nomi Qamar on his way to notch up 6-7, 7-6, 6-2 victory.
